Vacation is Over

We got back from the coast today.  Sunshine (some fog), cool days and lots and lots of good food.  The first day was good.  Cereal, sadwiches, and chicken for dinner.  All the bad stuff was easily avoidable.  Day 2 was hard hard hard.  We all went to the street market in SLO and the tempting bad foods were EVERYWHERE!  We ate chinese food from a street vendor, which was the best choice available. Friday was Mexican dinner, so I chose against the tortilla and made a salad w/a bit of taco meat (a mix of ground beef and ground chicken).  I drank Rum w/ Coke Zero maybe a bit too often and had some water daily but not as much as when I am at home.  Here are my greatest challenges of the trip:  Oreo cake for Moniques Bday Party (yikes!), I did not have ANY!.  Sweets at the street market on Thursday in SLO, I did not have any!  Cheese & crackers snacks, I ate a ton of fruit and some nuts instead.  Smores and Smores and Smores……..I ate one marshmallow our last night when I was showing the girls how to make taffy by pulling a raw marshmallow between your fingers!  Here’s the exercise breakdown…….we rode a frustrating 4 miles into Pismo.  The bikes took a beating on the back of the car on the way to Pismo the day before and so we never really got much use from them.  We went to the beach three times and walking thru the sand is always a workout.  We shopped a couple of times……the getting out seemed like moving.  Other than that…….our exercise was more slim than our bodies. We had strange days physically.  I had one day I was in horrible pain from a knee.  Erin had a belly ache one day.  It was sort of frustrating because I actually DID want to exercise but found it challenging.  Tomorrow I look forward to riding.  I am not, however, looking forward to the temp difference between Fresno and Pismo!!  Anyway, the trip was good, the food went better than expected and even tho I didn’t exercise as much as I would have liked………I felt slightly acomplished by my ability to turn away from the bad food and replace it with a healthy alternative.  Okie!!  On to the beginning of Week 5!!
